This farcical 1975 novel pits the good-hearted Lady Maude against the diabolical Sir Giles, who plans to ruin the local countryside by constructing a highway that will serve little purpose other than lining his pockets. The fight against bureaucracy makes for deft comedy.

Blott on the Landscape is a satiric farce in which the feuding between an aristocratic couple spills disastrously into the public arena. The humor is in the Monty Python tradition-- slapstick, vulgar and sometimes cruel. This piece of fluff gets better than it deserves from David Suchet, whose lively and colorful performance is likely to hold many listeners who would lose interest in the printed page.
