Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

New York taxidermy collector Garth Carson has just set a covetous eye on Pipsqueak the Nutty Nut squirrel, star of an old kiddies' cartoon show, mounted in a glass case in a north Jersey antiques shop, when a gun battle between a biker and the shop's apparent owner has him ducking for cover in Pipsqueak, Brian M. Wiprud's uproarious second mystery after last year's Sleep with the Fishes. Supported by blurbs from Harlan Coben, Steve Hamilton, Sparkle Hayter and other established pros, this is the wildest mystery to come down the pike in a stuffed squirrel's age.

Review

“The Nick and Nora of taxidermy meet the Maltese Falcon...er...Squirrel in another crazy, funny mystery from Brian M. Wiprud.”
—Sparkle Hayter

“The flat-out coolest mystery I’ve read in years, not to mention the funniest. Brian Wiprud is either a genius or a lunatic. Or maybe both.” —Steve Hamilton

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING!, Jul 14 2004
By Robert (Hancock MA) - See all my reviews
The only thing I could reccomend this book for is a cure for insomnia. The plot was flatter than the paper it was written on. Even though it was a cheap paperback it's content wasn't worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original and funny, Jul 13 2004
By Randall B. Hicks (Fallbrook, CA United States) - See all my reviews
Alhough I love mysteries, I particularly enjoy funny mysteries, and Pipsqueak is a great one. Harlan Coben's blurb on the cover is no lie - it's wildly original, wacky and fun. When was the last time you could say that about a book you read? I can see why it won Left Coast Crime's "Lefty" award for the funniest mystery of the year, beating the likes of Janet Evanovich. I have not yet read his Swimming with the Fishes, but I'll certainly look for it now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Your average run of the mill mystery book., Jul 7 2004
By george (Virginia USA) - See all my reviews
I found Pipsqueak to be a mediocre story. The main character Garth Carson seems rather stale and one dimensional, the plot moves rather sluggishly, but there are some moments.
