From Booklist

Another entertaining entry in Kinsella's unabashedly fluffy Shopaholic series. Life could not get any better for Becky Bloomwood, the irresistibly daft heroine of Confessions of a Shopaholic (2001) and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan (2002). She has managed to parlay her personal and professional passions into a dream job as a personal shopper at Barney's, and she and her wildly successful boyfriend live a life of relative peace and prosperity in Manhattan's West Village. Well, at least they would if Becky could manage to curb her extravagant spending habits a bit. When Luke finally pops the question, a euphoric Becky manages to entangle herself in another rather sticky predicament. Becky's cozy mum back in England has planned a homespun wedding for her only daughter on the same day for which Luke's frosty society mother has booked the Plaza in New York. Two weddings on the same day, what's a committed consumer to do? Chock-full of the charming antics and asides that made the first two installments hilarious best-sellers. Margaret Flanagan

Product Description

The lovable heroine of Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan is back!—in a hilarious tale of one blushing bride who just can’t say no to saying “I do.”

Life has been good for Becky Bloomwood: She’s become the best personal shopper at Barneys, she and her successful entrepreneurial boyfriend, Luke, are living happily in Manhattan’s West Village, and her new next-door neighbor is a fashion designer! But with her best friend, Suze, engaged, how can Becky fail to notice that her own ring finger is bare? Not that she’s been thinking of marriage (or diamonds) or anything . . . Then Luke proposes! Bridal registries dance in Becky’s head. Problem is, two other people are planning her wedding: Becky’s overjoyed mother has been waiting forever to host a backyard wedding, with the bride resplendent in Mum’s frilly old gown. While Luke’s high-society mother is insisting on a glamorous, all-expenses-paid affair at the Plaza. Both weddings for the same day. And Becky can’t seem to turn down either one. Can everyone’s favorite shopaholic tie the knot before everything unravels?

I am astounded that this book was published, much less edited. The author seems bent on inventing words, usually adverbs, in every sentence, i.e. "blearily, puzzedly." Not only is the grammar appalling, but the dialogue is repetitive and boring. The idiotic main character lies, whines and deceives her way through life's everyday struggles. What a pitiful representative of the British educational system and of young women today.
I completely agree with the reviewer who wanted to give the book 2 negative stars and felt sorry for the trees who sacrificed their lives for the paper it was printed on.

The main character of the book and her antics are so unbelievable, that even stretching the imagination that far is impossible. She lacks depth and brains. Also, the amount of typos and grammatical mistakes completely amazed me! Don't waste your time or money.

1.0étoiles sur 5 Hard to Enjoy!, Avril 7 2003

I read and loved the first two books in the Shopaholic series and was anticipating the release of this third book. But I found it very hard to like and finish. Here's why:

1) While I used to find Becky endearing and sweet, I did not like her at all in this book. She is a pushover who doesn't really think about anything but shopping. She was just annoying. She could have easily gotten herself out of the "sticky situation" (see below) that is the focal point of the novel by doing the right thing. How very superficial.

2) There were no written reasons for us to like any of the supporting characters. Luke was a mama's boy and I found myself not even wanting Becky to marry him, Elinor was mean, and Becky's mom was trying to run the whole wedding for her.

3) There is no real plot, just Becky digging herself further and further into a hole in which she must decide between an amazing wedding at the plaza and a wedding at home. In typical Becky fashion- she continues to put off the decision.

4) The only reason I gave this book a star at all is because it is mildly entertaining and fun. But it is safe to say that I won't be reading any more possible sequels in the Shopaholic series.
