4.0étoiles sur 5 Dem Bones, Juil 14 2004

This was my introduction to Patricia Briggs and, although it started a bit slow for me, I really enjoyed this novel. After the slow start I found I couldn't put it down. That's a nice discovery for me. I don't find story's often enough any more that will grab me like "Dragon Bones" did. This is a well done "coming of age" book and will run you through all the emotions that such a discovery entails.
Patricia has a nice way of character delvelopment. One that sneaks up on you. It's kind of like a suprise ending of a movie. The character Bastilla caught me totally by suprise and I pride myself on figuring plots out ahead of time.
Patricia Briggs has earned a permanent place in my library right along with Mercedes Lackey, Marion Zimmer Bradley and the woman who started it all for me, Andre Norton.
Thank you.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Unusual, but rewarding, Mai 26 2004

I usually shy away from books whose major selling point appears to be a recommendations by 'Romantic Times', however, this book was a pleasant surprise. I found Dragon Bones to be a funny, interesting and imaginative book which I throughly enjoyed reading. The cover art is misleading. It looks like the publisher couldn't decide if it was a fantasy or romance novel, and the result is the smallest dragon coupled with the most well-musceled fantasy protagionist I've ever seen. Very amusing. Please don't let the cover art deter you from buying this book.

On a side note, I believe that Dragon Bones and it's sequel Dragon Blood were originally concieved of as one book. This would explain the 'odd' ending of Dragon Bones as it is in a way the first half of a longer book.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Short, but full of meat, Fév 15 2004
Par Un client
Most fantasy novels today have become drawn out, worn out series, with too many trivial events and excess detail. Writers in the genre seem to forget that all good things NEED to come to an end at some point and preferably before the readers stop caring about the characters or story. Ms. Briggs has a story to tell and she does just that without wasting her readers' time and I find it nice to read a story where the author doesn't waste the reader's time. I'm saying, this is a short book. Some say too short, but I would disagree. She covers everything she really needed to cover, hints at a few answers, and has a sequel. If you want more, buy the next book. I found it to be a highly addictive read that was difficult to put down. She's better than Robert Jordan and better than Terry Goodkind because she knows when to stop, something I wish more fantasy writers would learn.
