From Library Journal

Michaels sets the tone for this lively romp in a hilarious opening scene that depicts the demise, respectively, of the father and mother of the hero and heroine when they plunge off the balcony in the throes of passionate love amidst a boring house party. The classic guardian/ward plot pattern is saved by an ingenious twist, and the dashing hero is definitely adequate; surprisingly, the shallow, too lovely heroine has less appeal. Nevertheless, Michaels (The Promise, Pocket, 1997) crafts a well-plotted, humorous story filled with a bevy of delightful supporting characters that include sweet Aunt Gwendolyn, who pilfers things; a former courtesan maid; a cute but sticky-fingered monkey; and a parrot who knows (and tells) too much for his own good. Michaels is a popular author of both Regencies and historical romances, and this story will not disappoint her many fans.

From Booklist

A salacious prologue sets up this Regency-era tale of the offspring of Cecil, eighth duke of Selbourne, and his wanton mistress, the Widow Winstead, lovers who inadvertently expose their relationship when they plunge to their deaths, knocked off a balcony while in flagrante delicto. Bram, the ninth duke of Selbourne, is appalled when he discovers that his father had promised to sponsor his lover's daughter during the spring season, and his fears seem justified as Sophie appears to be a sexually sophisticated and very manipulative young woman, an able heir to her mother's legacy. She charms everyone except Bram, who just wants to get her married off and as far away from London as possible. As the characters develop and the delicious plot unfolds, this turns into a thoroughly delightful historical romance. Although not a traditional Regency as perfected by Georgette Heyer and practiced by the likes of Marion Chesney and Patricia Veryan, it is a pleasurable read in the newer tradition of Jo Beverley and Joan Wolf. 5.0étoiles sur 5 GREAT BOOK!!! 8-), Jui 20 2003
Par "eponymous_one" (Springfield, MA) - Voir tous mes commentaires
Oh My God! Indiscreet was Incredible! I agree with others who said the book was a hilarious romp through Regency England. There were times when I couldn't stop laughing, the little secret in the prologue being only the first one. The bombshell secret revealed later, though, was even better. I grew to see Sophie Winstead and Bram Seaton as friends, and truly enjoyed laughing, crying and going along for the ride with them on the road to true love and soulmate-hood. How anyone could rate this less than 5 stars is beyond me, because it was a truly wonderful book. In a career of writing wonderful books, this is definitely one of Kasey Michaels's best.

3.0étoiles sur 5 Ths wasn't what i was expecting, Mai 22 1999
Par Un client
Michaels made all French people seem like harlots, and most English people as vague martinets. The sexual tension between the hero and heroine was more like a master going after a mistress (which it sort of was). The heroine was somewhat disappointing, with practically no depth or sharpness- only giggly happiness. heaven save me from silly heroines. The story laid out the characters well, but i really didn't like the characters.

2.0étoiles sur 5 Disappointing, Avril 6 1999
It has a great prologue and the plot-line shows great promise and I expected great pleasure from reading it. Alas! it was not to be. The characters are not well-developed. I don't see the roles of the monkey and parrot in enhancing either the story or the atmosphere, they are superfluous. The story is not well-knitted and too slow-moving to be interesting. There should be witty sparring and sexual tension to create stronger chemistry between the hero and heroine to make it funny. A pity the writer failed to deliver the romance and humour in a truly good storyline.
