2.0étoiles sur 5 "GHOST AT SKELETON ROCK" Not So Scary, Jui 12 2005
Par Un client
Frank and Joe receive a crytic message from their father and it has them baffled. Also a note hidden in a ventriloquist's dummy that Chet happens to buy lead them to Puerto Rico. It leads the Hardys, Chet Morton, and Tony Prito to a dangerous search for the clues to solve this case.

The trail starts in Bayport when they encounter some petty thieves and find some diamonds hidden in the eyes of Chet's puppet named Hugo. They also find out that one of the smugglers looks like Joe and he uses it to his full advantage. They then fly to the Caribbean when on the way they stop at a little island where they are caught in the crossfire involving criminals and the police.

Finally upon arrival at Puerto Rico they immediately recognize one of the gang and shadow him in order to find their next clue. The trail leads them to Skeleton Rock where they run into a tribe of natives who tell them to get off the island. It seem thats the native are afraid of Skeleton Rock for some reason.

Even though their lives are constantly in danger and the search is intensified the Hardys are bound and determined to catch the thieves in action and put them away for good.

This book never really lived up to its great title and action and suspense was sparse to say the least.

2.0étoiles sur 5 Very Very Very Disapointing, Janv. 18 2003
Par Scott Thiel (Ontario, Canada) - Voir tous mes commentaires
Published in 1957 - I recall many years ago I was given my first Hardy Boys book. A revision of "The Melted Coins" written in 1970. I thought - boring title - boring book. I glanced at the back cover and after scouring the title wondered why I wasn't given The Ghost at Skeleton Rock. Surely that volume dealing with ghosts would be scary and a great read. When I finally read this volume I was greatly let down. Perhaps the best titled book in the canon - it does not live up to fascinating title. The brothers don't arrive at Skeleton Rock until the final two chapters basically and the ghost winds up being some air stuffed windbag. There was no suspense. The Hardys certainly weren't afraid. I yawned through the whole thing myself. This was the first volume cut from 200+ pages to roughly 180 pages. The cover art was definately not among Rudi Nappi's best. The brothers in this one seem more like FBI undercover agents than amateur teenage detectives. As I said - a very big disapointment. RATED C-

2.0étoiles sur 5 Dissapointing
Certainly this book does not live up to its appealing title. It was alright, but does rank among the worst of the series. Not deserving of a 3 rating, which is average. Read more

The main setting is San Juan that is a capital in Puerto Rico. Calypso Island is north of Puerto Rico. The story starts in the United States in a city called Bayport. Read more

5.0étoiles sur 5 It is a book that keeps you on your toes
It is a great book and very realistic - It COULD happen, unlike some books when they fly or something
