“A nice writing style and considerable wit.”

Product Description

IT’S THE PARTY OF THE YEAR.
CHAMPAGNE, CAVIAR . . . AND MURDER.

The anniversary celebration at the inn where Susan and Jed Henshaw spent their honeymoon promised to be a night to remember. And it was . . . for all the wrong reasons. For by evening’s end, Ashley Marks became the ultimate party pooper. She was dead, apparently poisoned, her body hidden beneath a pile of gifts on the bed in the Henshaw’s room.

Ashley certainly wasn’t popular in social circles, but who at the soiree disliked her enough to knock her off? Following a cold trail of clues, Susan tracks down a killer whose roots may be buried deep in Ashley’s past, along with deadly secrets. . . .

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Wolzein's best effort, Oct 29 2002
By Karen Potts (Lake Jackson, Texas) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Susan and Jed Henshaw are spending their anniversary by throwing a big party at the inn where they spent their honeymoon. All is well until they discover the dead body of one of their guests under a pile of presents on their bed. Thus begins Susan's latest efforts at solving a murder mystery. This book did not hold my interest as some of the others in the series have because there were so few suspects and not enough interesting red herrings. Susan, her friend Kathleen, and her husband Jed seem to hash and rehash the same scenarios over and over before the murderer is revealed. As in some of the earliest books in the series, the solution is pretty far-fetched and didn't provide a satisfying climax to the book. This series has its ups and downs and this is one of the less sterling additions to the Susan Henshaw Mysteries.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Wolzien Mystery, Sep 25 2002
By Christi (Fairfield, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
Another solid suburbian mystery by Valerie Wolzien. The antics of Susan Henshaw continue as the body of a recently acquited murder suspect ends up in the B&B room of Jed and Susan the night of their big anniversary party. Susan's friend from "The Student Body", Jinx, returns to help solve this one!
This is a great quick read for a plane ride. As usual, I can't wait for the next in the series to hit bookstores!

Excellently written, good for women to relate too, and have fun imagining themselves in these messes. And always endeding up the hero.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was Okay
I have always enjoyed the Susan Henshaw mysteries, but I was alittle disappointed in this one. For one thing her friend, Kathleen, has two children, and somehow the daughter's... Read more
