Product Description

If you feel unfairly criticized, controlled by others, or are afraid of being lonely, you could be suffering from emotional abuse. Now there is help in this compassionate sourcebook. Bevery Engel, a marriage, family, and child therapist, guides you through a step-by-step recovery process to help you heal the damage done in the past.

Ingram

With the insight and sensible, compassionate guidance which have distinguished her previous books A Right to Innocence and Divorcing a Parent, Engel addresses one of the biggest segments of the recovery audience--and one of its most pressing issues: the emotional abuse of women by those they work with, live with, and love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Abuse begats Abuse, Jul 28 2004
By A Customer
Kelly Diane Labarone,Reviewer-
This is a prolific book and a deep look into why women get involved in damaging relationships. A child of abuse, wether it be violent, sexual or verbal/metal abuse tends to lean to the side of a man that will continue that abuse in someway-for abuse to them is a sign of love somehow. it wasn't until this year that I finally understood myself when I read a book titled 'Nightmares Echo'. Nightmares Echo, for lack of a better word, echoed my own life and the pain that lived on in to my adulthood. I was able to finally recognize it, and be inspired by this great author from her words. But then what? I needed more. 'The Emotionally abused Woman' offers that 'MORE' I needed. How to change it, how to move past it, how to live again. Though it speaks of 'Emotional' abuse, it will help you in dealing with all forms of abuse in adulthood, at least I believe it will. So my recommendation would be to buy both books and read them one after the other. Let your life begin anew.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent & Practical, May 11 2004
By A Customer
This book really helped me along with therapy!!! It was amazing for a long time I couldnt put a name on what I was going through until I found this book. I felt like someone was in my house recording everything that was going on. I was able to see the patterns & manipulation being used on me & I was finally able to break FREE!!!! I am happy to say that thanks to this book (& my continuing therapy) I was able to leave my abusive, drug addicted boyfriend. My life is finally starting to fall into place

5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY help I got!!!!, Sep 5 2003
By A Customer
In this book I finally found someone who understood! Understood that there can be *great* abuse inflicted upon women without a hand ever touching them! This author knows that the deep internal scars are harder to heal than the superficial physical ones, for they wound the heart! I was drowning without a life vest until I found this book! Hallelujah!
