Product Description

From AudioFile

This titillating reading of Block's 1970 pseudonymous sex-romp is packaged as a mystery although it has no murder, detectives or much in the way of crime. Nevertheless, it's a barrel of fun, with actor Gregory Gorton doing a lively interpretation of Chip Harrison's narrative voice. While on close examination, it's hard to believe that Gorton's is the voice of a 17-year-old, he puts a bright bounce into his reading, making this a highly entertaining listening experience. Warning, this one is not for the kiddies. Though not explicit, the theme of sex runs throughout this story as Chip Harrison wanders from the Midwest to upstate New York, endeavoring to lose his virginity. S.E.S. Ingram

Hoping to win over the beautiful Francine, Chip Harrison is astonished when an attempt is made on his life, an event that places him at the forefront of a fast-paced investigation.

4.0 out of 5 stars warning: not a mystery, Sep 11 1997
Lawrence Block is known as a mystery writer, and I like his mysteries very much. Probably because publishers are jerks, this book is billed as a mystery. It isn't. There is very little suspense, and no mystery at all. This book is erotic fiction. If you know that before you read it, so that you are not disappointed by the lack of mystery, you may well enjoy it very much: it is *very* good erotic fiction

1.0 out of 5 stars Pure Porno; Why is Lawrence Block Allowing a Reprint?, Jan 8 1997
By A Customer
No Score refers to the title characters inability to complete the sex act with numerous partners throughout the story. Lawrence Block is one of my favorite authors. He must have written this book when he desperately needed the money. It should not have been republished
