1.0 out of 5 stars What is this garbage?, Jul 14 2004
By Hanna Newhome (Oslo, Norway) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Devils Embrace (Paperback)
I cannot believe an intelligent person would like or recommend this book. The hero is an arrogant pig with little consideration for other people's feelings. How can this be romantic? I really adore Coulter but this book is truge garbage. Rape is not romantic!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible book, Jun 1 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Devil's Embrace (Hardcover)
I couldn't finish this book. It was horrible. The heroine, Cassie, is set to marry her childhood sweetheart when she is kidnapped by the "hero" who wants to marry her. He then rapes her. Cassie later falls in love with this man and marries him and has his children in the end. After reading the rape scene which was so horrible I started crying, I threw the book away. Only a truly sick person would write such a thing for entertainment. I like to read love stories that make me feel happy for the characters in the book, not totally horrified. There are women out there who are victims of domestic violence; this book seems to me to justify and condone this behavior from men. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Caprtured, April 27 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Devils Embrace (Paperback)
I have been sitting here in total awe and I just don't want to start another book - I am almost scared that I will loose the fresh memories from this one!
I have NEVER read a book and felt so utterly satisfied in the end. I have been reading about a book a week of Catherine Coulters and this was is by far the best.
This book is by far graphic in the tortures that Cassie endures by captors.... I found the one rape scene appaling- but, it was small compared to the rush of emotions you felt in the end.
I feel like I am in love with the Earl! Their moments together were so sensual and beautiful...... erotic. Cassie is so strong and precious.....
Do not by this book if you have a weak stomach and no interest in a roller coaster of emotions. Buy this book if you seriously are ready to sit in awe in the end and want to read again already.
