From Publishers Weekly
Homicide detective Lt. Roger Tejeda, on medical leave because of partial amnesia, investigates a murder he fears is linked to a series of killings five years earlier. This is "a sharp-witted thriller that leans hard on coincidence," said PW . "The pace is smart, the humor sly and the robust characters . . . spar with the dexterity of old friends."

From Library Journal
Discovery of a decapitated head on their beach disrupts the recuperation of Lieutenant Roger Tejeda and wealthy Kate Teague ( No Harm, LJ 10/1/87), live-in lovers on the California coast. This copycat mutilation murder, triggered by the approaching trial of a notorious mass murderer jailed by Tejeda, may jeopardize the district attorney's case. During Tejeda's investigation, action centers on the two lovers, their families and friends, and disturbing connections to the mass murderer's family. In spite of a few rough edges, the plot remains well-intentioned, the characters mostly believable (if shallow), and the action violent and constant.
