Product Description

From Amazon.com

Here's the 35th-anniversary edition of the big book on breastfeeding, written by the experts at La Leche League International. The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding is a comprehensive resource guide providing just about everything you need to know about how--and why--to breastfeed your baby. Latch on to this book for step-by-step guides to early months, common concerns, problems, and weaning. Additional sections on general nutrition, sleep issues, going back to work, discipline, and fathering are useful for all breastfeeding mothers. Unfortunately the black-and-white photos are not always as clear as they should be, and the informative line-drawings are too scarce.

1.0 out of 5 stars Made me reconsider, Nov 15 2007
By J. Pereira - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
What a horrible book. I was already nervous about breastfeeding; this book just pissed me off. I really feel for those women who tried to breastfeed and couldn't but this book makes it seem like they didn't try hard enough or just didn't care. And if you want to work or enjoy a weekend away from your breastfeeding child, you are a selfish and uncaring mother. Not to mention if you wanted information about weaning this is not the place to find it. Horrible...would not recommend this book to anyone who has not had the "natural" experience of breastfeeding.
As if new parents don't have enough guilt and worry about the decision they are making for their children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book available on breastfeeding, Aug 11 2006

This is the best book I've read on breastfeeding, also a really good chapter on starting solid foods. The benefits of breastfeeding are explained in detail too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Oct 22 2004
By Heather (Cranbrook, British Columbia Canada) - See all my reviews
I thought this book was great.

When reading the negative reviews I was sadden that so many mothers feel that they have something to be guilty about. Maybe there is something to that and why they didn't like the book.

It really helped me see that the way I wanted to raise my daughter was okay and not strange. Being a real mom and everything that goes along with it.

Read the book, check out your local Leche League.
