2.0 out of 5 stars Very boring, reads like a textbook., May 1 2003
By SLW5122 (Tri-Cities, WA) - See all my reviews
I found this book to be very boring. I bought it because I had seen it referanced in a lot of magazine articles. It may be good for looking up useful information on heart disease, but not really a preventative book. The diet recommended in this book is unrealistic to me and seems like a diet that would be recommended to a person who was diagnosed with heart disease and had to change their lifestyle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Informative but hard to keep reading, Mar 28 2003
By SLW5122 (Tri-Cities, WA) - See all my reviews
I bought this book because I had seen a lot of people referance from it in magazine articles so I assumed it would be very informative. While it is informative it is very much like reading a text book for me. I have had to read it in small portions at a time because so much information at one time gets pretty boring. I find myself taking notes while I read it so that I can remember key points that I felt were important. The "Mediterranean" diet that this book recommends for a healthy heart is really unrealistic in my opinion. It basically cuts out most foods that people enjoy eating and leaves a very bland diet. I love eating and I do try to eat healthy, but this diet is just too much. I would recommend this book as an informative book for women who have a family history of heart disease and enjoy reading very educational books on women's health.
