They span Rackham's career — his landmark 1905 edition of Rip Van Winkle to masterworks such as Undine and A Midsummer Night's Dream and his final publication, Wind in the Willows, in 1939.

A great book to leave on a living room table as conversation piece. Everyone sees something different or notices a special detail in Rakcham's illustrations.

The book is of a good size and the paper of good quality. The illustrations are beautiful but could've taken up more space in the page (there are big white margins on all sides). I found that the small text underneath each illustration was very helpful in better understanding and appreciating the illustrations. The texts usually contain an extract from the tale at the passage illustrated as well as which tale it is from. At the very bottom of the page the book in which the illustration figures is identified.

According to the Introduction over 400 pieces of Rackham's work were reviewed when choosing the final 86 contained within this book. With that in mind, I am disappointed that none of his silhouette pieces made it into the book as they are my favourite and some of his best work in my opinion.
