Again, this is the second book that I picked up that said on the cover that it was the most terrifying thriller since 'Silence of the Lambs', the first being 'Messiah' by Boris Starling which totally lived up to that statement. Well, so does 'Fatal Instinct'! This is one of a series about FBI profiler Jessica Coran who recently captured the serial killer Matisak, who is very much like Hannibal the Cannibal. In this book, Jessica is after 'The Claw' running rampant in NYC, a sort of modern day Jack the Ripper. As in "Silence", Matisak is not one to be content on the sidelines, and finds ways to insinute his 'help' to Jessica. As the book reaches its shocking conclusion, you will be looking for the next book in the series!

Is every insane serial killer given an investigation file to help nab a particulary nasty peer? It seems that way with Walker. It was quirky and interesting with Thomas Harris, but it is dreadfully cliched with Walker. Also, does Jessica have to screw every man she's involved with in an investigation?

Fatal Instinct is a suspenseful thriller that takes you in the mind and world of a serial killer who cannibalizes his victims. Robert W. Walker uses such vivid words that let you imagine what the killer is doing and thinking during his time of the killings. He keeps you in suspense for the next kill because you never know who he is going to strike next. The images he produces with his words gives you chills up your spine and makes you think twice about you colleagues.
