John Curless's rendition of Jubal Sackett is exceptional. His well-modulated voice flows as he tells the legend of Jubal, a powerful medicine man the Indians called "Ni'Kwana, Master of Mysteries." With the help of Itchakomi, a Natchez princess, he blazes a trail through the American wilderness from the Appalachians to the Rocky Mountains. Curless uses deft timing and an easy-reading style to draw listeners into Jubal's world. He easily distinguishes the various male characters using pacing, volume, and accents, and even manages to make the halting British English of the Indians sound natural. An enchanting listening experience. S.C.A. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine--
