They have two cats and a bird of their own, but when a neighbor's dog, a miniature collie, has puppies, they want one. Told by their mother that the dog would be too much responsibility and too expensive, the girls set out to earn money in order to buy a puppy and show their mother just how responsible they are. The characters are believeable, if superficial; the plot development is fair, but the subject will have appeal.
