Product Description

From Library Journal

Kate Sinclair has problems: her sister is marrying a man accused of serial murder, she can't handle her rebellious daughter or addled mother, and a slick talker on whom she had a crush in high school has just reappeared. It's enough to send Kate to the therapist's couch?if she weren't already a therapist. Expect hard-hitting promotion for this new novel from the author of See Jane Run (LJ 3/15/91).

From School Library Journal

YA?Fielding's novelistic version of "Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives" is almost a send-up of topics heard on advice shows. The heroine, a professional family counselor, has the hots for her old high school flame even though she is happily married to a wonderful, caring guy. She refuses to see that her mother is becoming senile and her teenage daughter is rebelling; in addition, her airhead sister marries an imprisoned serial killer to whom she becomes attracted while attending his trial. Once the tabloids move on from this sensational story, Sis helps her killer husband escape from prison only to become his ultimate victim. The desire to wring all of the characters' silly necks is strong, but the author does it first, while at the same time pointing out their motivations for being so foolish. Despite possible disgust with these women's behavior, readers will find that Fielding's writing keeps them turning the pages, and good sense prevails in the end.?Judy McAloon, Potomac Library, Prince William County, VA

5.0 out of 5 stars joy fielding is the best author ever., Jun 9 2001
By A Customer
I just discovered her a few weeks ago at a local book store just happened across her books. I bought "don't cry now" and "see jane run" and I couldn't put them down "missing pieces" is equally as good as all her other books I have now read I just have to know whats gonna happen even if I lose sleep in the process. She sure can write great suspense novels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unraveling lives, Dec 7 2007

I disagree with someone else's opinion that the story is too absurd. Yes, the main character's family is anything but stable...but if you read to the end, you find out why some members are acting in certain ways. In today's world focused on sick dysfunction, the story is actually still quite harmless.
The story kept me reading right through with impatience - to find out what happened, since Ms. Fielding hinted at something in the very beginning.
The reason I do not give this book a 5/5 stars is that I felt a little disappointed with the ending.

2.0 out of 5 stars Love and the serial killer., April 24 2002
By Denise Bentley "Kelsana" (The California Redwoods) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The premise for this book is so absurd I can hardly believe there was a story to go with it. After reading Fielding's 5 star GRAND AVENUE, I wanted to read everything she has written.

Kate's sister JoLynn opens the paper one morning and decides she will fall in love and marry the serial killer who's handsome picture is plastered all over the front page. His trial is moving along and JoLynn decides to meet with him to give him her support.

The rest is totally absurd with little merit. I find it hard to believe the same author wrote both of these books. The one redeeming aspect is that this author excels at creating living, breathing, characters, even the ones that behave in the most unbelievable manner. Kelsana 4/23/02
