I first read this book as a child. Now, at 50, I have re-read it too many times to count. This book fires my imagination every time I read it. It is a gripping adventure that, though written many years ago, deals with themes of space travel and artificial intelligence that could have been written yesterday -- or fifty years from now! The story is character-driven, well-written and evokes feelings of excitement, sympathy, wonder and delight. Though aimed at a juvenile audience, I recommend it for any age. If you can find a copy . . . enjoy! My tattered copy resides in my fireproof safe (no kidding!).

I read this book when I was about 10 years old, and I'm sure that I wore that copy out re-reading, and re-reading it! What a terrific, timeless, science fiction classic! If you can get your hands on this book and you love juvenile science fiction, I don't hesitate to recommend this one!
