Product Description

Sequel to the extraordinary Name of the Wind, The Wise Man's Fear is the second installment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss. Picking up the tale of Kvothe Kingkiller once again, we follow him into exile, into policital intrigue, courtship, adventure, love and magic ...and further along the path that has turned Kvothe, the mightiest magician of his age, a legend in his own time, into Kote, the unassuming pub landlord. Packed with as much magic, adventure and home-grown drama as The Name of the Wind, this is a sequel in every way the equal to it's predecessor and a must-read for all fantasy fans. Readable, engaging and gripping The Wise Man's Fear is the biggest and the best new fantasy novel out there.

About the Author

Patrick Rothfuss had the good fortune to be born in Wisconsin in 1973, where the long winters and lack of cable television encouraged a love of reading and writing. After abandoning his chosen field of chemical engineering, Pat became an itinerant student, wandering through clinical psychology, philosophy, medieval history, theatre, and sociology. Nine years later, Pat was forced by university policy to finally complete his undergraduate degree in English. When not reading and writing, he teaches fencing and dabbles with alchemy in his basement.

1.0 out of 5 stars How do you review a book not yet published?, Jun 17 2009
By R. Nicholson - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
This review is from: The Wise Man's Fear (Paperback)
To D. Jones of Calgary, Alberta.

As there is no 'comment' available on Amazon.ca I had to waste some 'review' space to 'comment' on your review (and I apologize for having to use a false 'Star' rating to accomplish this task)

What would entice you to write a review on a book that has not yet been published; in fact the the release date keeps moving back. Do you have access to some pre-released, proof reading version the rest of us don't have? Or did you review 'The Name of the Wind' and mistakenly put it under the wrong title?. I'd be interested to hear your explanation.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best novels I have read in years, May 4 2009
By D. Jones (Calgary, AB, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Wise Mans Fear (Hardcover)
This is an amazing, well written and engaging novel. I strongly recommend it for any fantasy fans who look for strong writing, characterization and a well structured story. It is one of the best novels I have read in years. The story is a series of flashbacks of the protaganist's life and ends before you find out his full story. There are many hints his current situation is more complex than it seems. I am waiting impatiently for the sequel and relish the opportunity to read it again when the sequel is published. I hope the sequel can meet the expectations of excellence set by this novel.
