It' funny...my grandmother gave me the Marguerite Henry books when I was a little girl.."Misty of Chincoteague", "Stormy, Misty's Foal", "Justin Morgan Had a Horse", "Brighty of the Grand Canyon", "Black Gold" etcetera...and I loved them and read them over and over. Now I am a mum, my daughter is reading all of them and enjoying them as much as I did. "The White Stallion of Lipizza" is the story of a young boy, a bakers son, who wants to learn the mysteries of the Airs Above the Ground, practiced by the Vienna Riding School on their beautiful Lippizaner stallions. It is a story of hard work and dedication, a story of love and disappointment, a story of joy and sorrow. Well written, and with the illustrations of the great Wesley Dennis, "The White Stallion of Lippiza" was, and still is, one of my favourite books. The copy I had disappeared, so I just ordered a new one through Amazon, and I am extremely pleased with its condition and with the price. If you haven't discovered Marguerite Henry, this would be a good place to start.White Stallion of Lipizza
