Book Description

HOPE faces the greatest challenge a Muse could ever know, she lacks a talent in which to inspire others.

HOPE, a talent less Muse and her friends: SANDY a Mer-Girl who is afraid of water, CAL a near-sighted Centaur-Boy, IGGI a four foot Fairy and a multi-colored Dragon named HUGH. Each a misfit among their own kind, ostracized for their differences in a world that does not want or understand their uniqueness. Only with each others help, do they soon realize that unless they can overcome their obstacles and find a place to belong to, it will be those differences that will forever keep them apart from the rest of society. Aided by a golden swan boat, they sail from place to place, hoping that someone, somewhere will have the answers they are seeking.

About the Author

Tyger B. Dacosta was born in San-Jose California and given up for adoption at birth. Raised by adoptive parents, his new family never understood his need for writing. Like the heroes in his books, Tyger believes in happy-endings. While living in San Francisco and with the help of a friend, one of his dreams was about to come true. Tyger found his biological family and was reunited with them soon after. Tyger enjoys working on children's issues and has spoken at the Legislature on Adoption. He hopes to adopt a child one day and is currently working on five more books: THE DRAGON PRINCE, CAT'S-EYE, THE CATERPILLAR PRINCESS, THE LITTLEST GIANT and THE BLUE DJINN. Tyger currently resides in San Jose.

4.0étoiles sur 5 great story for children, Janv. 3 2003
Par bruche (Hollywood, Calif) - Voir tous mes commentaires
THE LONELIEST MUSE is a cute story about several misfits finding a place to belong to, in a world that does not understand those differences that makes them special.
Though not perfect in editing<which can always be corrected> it still teaches us a vital lesson, its ok to be different. I was appalled by Ms. Graingers lack of understanding, especially by a teacher, who critiques people for painting beyond the box.
IGGY's use of contractions represents the doubts we all feel: can't, won't and couldn't. To accuse the writer as well as target his style on other book sites as well, shows that the educators need to be educated first before they can truly teach that which they learn.
Hopefully Ms. Graingers class is allowed to paint outside the box, rather than in such a confined space. Hurray for differences. Maybe those who critique should attempt to take the step these brave writers do and allow others to read something they have written and maybe then they will understand or at least be more compassionate in their words.
I look forward to reading more about THE LONELIEST MUSE as well as look forward to Ms. Graingers first book.

2.0étoiles sur 5 Not the best book for children, Sep 2 2002
Par J. Williams "The Greater Ape" (Oakland, CA USA) - Voir tous mes commentaires
(REAL NAME)
The story of MUSE is cute, a little simplistic and very much on the level of a young child, but sadly, the writing style is very overwrought, using very little punctuation and seemingly random rules of grammar.
It is more like a high school free form writing assignment gone awry than an actual novel and the writer would do well with a strong editor.
I don't think this is the best example of the type of writing we would like small children to encounter. It will at best be confusing and at worst lead to poor writing habits amongst the younger ones.
