Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

New York taxidermy collector Garth Carson has just set a covetous eye on Pipsqueak the Nutty Nut squirrel, star of an old kiddies' cartoon show, mounted in a glass case in a north Jersey antiques shop, when a gun battle between a biker and the shop's apparent owner has him ducking for cover in Pipsqueak, Brian M. Wiprud's uproarious second mystery after last year's Sleep with the Fishes. Supported by blurbs from Harlan Coben, Steve Hamilton, Sparkle Hayter and other established pros, this is the wildest mystery to come down the pike in a stuffed squirrel's age.

Product Description

New York City taxidermy collector Garth Carson was seconds away from snagging the greatest find of his career—the original Pipsqueak the Nutty Nut, stuffed-squirrel puppet star of his favorite 1950s kiddie TV show—until a biker, a brawny redhead, and a murder derailed his dreams and stole his squirrel. Now Garth would do anything to get Pipsqueak back. Unfortunately, so would someone else.

When Garth and his gal, Angie, two of New York’s most unlikely sleuths, enter a wacky, rollicking underworld of club-goers, jive cult members, and at least one very violent Pipsqueak aficionado, Garth’s black-sheep crime-prone brother joins the fray, sure that there’s more to this squirrel than old fur and a pair of glass eyes. Suddenly Garth is starting to get a clue: The puppet star of one old-time TV show is leading him straight into the heart of a loopy cult, a retro rage, and a diabolical conspiracy to first control Pipsqueak—then the world. --This text refers to the Mass Market Paperback edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING!, July 14 2004
By Robert (Hancock MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pipsqueak (Mass Market Paperback)
The only thing I could reccomend this book for is a cure for insomnia. The plot was flatter than the paper it was written on. Even though it was a cheap paperback it's content wasn't worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original and funny, July 13 2004
By Randall B. Hicks (Fallbrook, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pipsqueak (Mass Market Paperback)
Alhough I love mysteries, I particularly enjoy funny mysteries, and Pipsqueak is a great one. Harlan Coben's blurb on the cover is no lie - it's wildly original, wacky and fun. When was the last time you could say that about a book you read? I can see why it won Left Coast Crime's "Lefty" award for the funniest mystery of the year, beating the likes of Janet Evanovich. I have not yet read his Swimming with the Fishes, but I'll certainly look for it now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Your average run of the mill mystery book., July 7 2004
By george (Virginia USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pipsqueak (Mass Market Paperback)
I found Pipsqueak to be a mediocre story. The main character Garth Carson seems rather stale and one dimensional, the plot moves rather sluggishly, but there are some moments.
