Product Description

From School Library Journal

Grade 9 Up-Here, Morgan is out of control-and just when things seem to be settling down. Even though she is a powerful witch, her newbie status makes the magick difficult to control. Violent episodes appear to follow her, and her friends think the events are her doing. But are they? Could Morgan's biological father really be the cause of the dark magick? Or is there another powerful witch who is blind to her own power? Characters continue to develop and the thrilling action continues to move the series along nicely. Especially good are the passages involving Morgan's family. Her parents' reluctance to accept their daughter's new religion is a realistic addition. Still confusing, however, are the mysterious diary entries circa 1971. Some of their content mirrors Morgan's struggles, but readers may not be able to reconcile the diary's presence within the text itself. Still, it does help sustain the overall foreboding mood. This ninth entry is too involved to stand alone, but fans of the series will enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best in the Series, Jan 9 2004
By "_book_addict_" (California) - See all my reviews
I can only degrade this book to four stars, even though it was my least favorite along with the 11th one (somehow I couldn't bring myself to read anything but the prologue and the epilogue.)

Things in this book are started off by a tense boyfriend-meets-parents dinner, where Mary K discovers that Morgan hasn't exactly been telling her the whole truth. Alisa Soto has a problem with Morgan's powers and blames her for the things going wrong. Morgan's parents are deeply upset about her grades. The coven may be endangered. . . Because of Morgan's birth father. Can the trouble be fixed? Will Morgan's dearest friends ever trust her completely again?

4.0 out of 5 stars Strife, Oct 6 2003
By A Customer
After an incident at one of Kithic's circles most of her coven-mates believe Morgan is out of control. She knows she isn't but how can she prove it. A visiting witch sees telekinetic happenings around Morgan, and knowing her to be uninitiated with a lot of power assumes what seems to be the answer. Hunter, his cousin Sky, and Erin, the other witch, must bind Morgans powers so she is no longer a danger to herself or others. Throughout The Council are searching for Ciaran - Morgan's birth father. When they find him he is in the company of a powerfully telekinetic witch who claims not to need proximity to cause dusterbances - is it really she who is causing the violence surrounding Morgan? And will The Council catch Ciaran and stop him from ever harming Morgan?

Yet another amazing installment in the 'Sweep' saga. I don't think it's as good as some of those before it, but it gets very close! Very Good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!, Sep 10 2003
By "horse-fanatic" (Edmond, Oklahoma United States) - See all my reviews
This book kept me guessing and guessing. It was great that through most of the book you had to keep reading to see what that meant. Alisa and Morgan are two different girls, but in some ways very alike. This book is just like the other ones, VERY GOOD!
