Product Description

A man without memory is stranded in a city filled with robots gone wild. At his side is a woman who claims to know who he is but refuses to tell him. A robot may not injure a human being, this narrows the suspects when the robots find a dead body.

Synopsis

The first book in this three-volume revision of Isaac Asimov's classic series features the first two novels from the original six-volume series, beginning the tale of positronic robots and their human creators. Reprint.

4.0étoiles sur 5 humans and robots? thats unheard of!, Aoû 12 2002
Par Richard Macapinlac (Richmond, BC Canada) - Voir tous mes commentaires
to a person outside looking in, it seems like a typical robot book. humans and robots trying to co-exist, but things are thrown in the mix to make the overall journey a bit more interesting.

Isaac Asimov gave the authors a set of rules to live by when writing this book. certain behaviors that govern the behavior of the robots. which creates dilemma and affects certain behaviors of the main character, derek.

throw in amnesia, a few aliens and a girl, you got yourself robot city.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Fantastic piece of reading, Juil 16 2000
Par "subwolf" (Denver, CO, USA) - Voir tous mes commentaires
Absolutely brilliant, in my humble opinion. I picked it up to read one night in bed, and apart from sleeping & eating, I didn't stop till the next evening. Through Asimov's helpful attitude & guidance, these authors have turned out an excellent read, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm potentially worried about diffferent authors doing a story along the same lines, while it allows for changes & invididualism, sometimes reading a series of books means you'll get the same 'writers attitude' whereas with this series you'll encounter a few different 'attitudes'... if this was anything to go by though, I have no concerns. :)

1.0étoiles sur 5 Should be Chapter 1 instead of Book 1
Extremely lengthy, considering that it takes 250 pages to get to the "crime", and nothing of importance is revealed after reading 500+ pages. Read more

5.0étoiles sur 5 simply delightful
a classic asimovian detective sf novel except that the characters have an '80s sensibility. kube-dowell and mcquay are clearly having fun.
