Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Chaos rules in Armstrong's complex eighth Women of the Otherworld installment (after 2007's No Humans Involved). The formidable Benicio Cortez once helped tabloid-reporting, gun-toting, chaos demon spy girl Hope Adams out of a jam, so she agrees to go undercover and join a supernatural youth gang that's been causing problems for Cortez's multinational corporation. Assuming the persona of bratty rich co-ed Faith Edmonds, Hope works her way into the gang, participates in heists and soon finds herself dangerously attracted to one of the other members, cute Jasper Jaz Haig. All too soon, Jaz's diabolical plans lead to a shocking tragedy. Armstrong excels in depicting Hope's transformations, but new readers might want to read earlier books to get context for all the mayhem. (Mar.)

Review

"A page-turning thriller. Fans of the paranormal will delight in the eighth Women of the Underworld yarn, with its ass-kicking, Bollywood-beautiful, former-socialite heroine and full complement of sorcerers, witches, werewolves, and other paranormal beings."
Booklist

"Long before American author Stephenie Meyer came on the scene — four years before, to be precise — Canadian fantasy novelist Kelley Armstrong began paving the way with Women of the Otherworld."

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read!, Aug 20 2008
I'm a big fan of the Women of the Otherworld series, so I was waiting for this book for a long, long time. And although I kept expecting to read more of Elena, I did like this one a lot!

My only complaint is that Hope's character does not comne across as very strong. As an avid follower of the Women of the Otherworld, I expect the central characters to be really, really strong. Hope seems to fall a little short. Maybe that is what the book is all about - the fact that Hope is human, with all the failings that go with it.

All said and done, this is a fantastic book and I'd recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.

Can't wait for the next one in the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Chaos Reigns, Oct 10 2008
By Stephanie Bakker (Ontario, CANADA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Hope Adams is a half-demon who craves chaos; nevertheless, her greatest fear is letting down someone she loves after being swept up in a wave of anarchy. She hasn't learned, nor does she have the confidence, to control her chaos impulses yet. Unfortunately, she owes a debt to Benicio Cortez, head of the most powerful Cabal in the supernatural world.

When Benicio calls in his marker, Hope decides the assignment may even help her learn to control her hunger. She must infiltrate a gang of young discontented supernaturals and discover what they are planning against the cabal. What Hope doesn't count on is making new friends in this young gang and thriving on the chaos they create.

And what happens when the prodigal son returns home?

Lucas Cortez has very different ideologies than his father Benicio and the rest of the Cortez family. But, as husband to the Head of the Interracial Council, Paige Winterbourne, and friend of Hope Adams, he returns to Miami to help Hope unravel the mystery of the young gang and its members. Unfortunately, he finds everything he feared coming true as he is caught up in Cabal business and investigations of murder.

Yet, at the root of Personal Demon are stories of love - the love of family, friends, brothers, and the love between a man and a woman and how each can influence your decisions and guide your life, for the better and for the worse.

Kelley Armstrong is a master at highlighting the diverse facets of relationships and entwining them into supernatural stories of suspense and intrigue. Personal Demon is no exception. The characters are relatable and evoke a myriad of emotions from the reader. The story is exciting and keeps the reader engaged and wanting more. Kelley Armstrong wrote another winner with Personal Demon.
