Product Description

From AudioFile

This first-person narrative is told by Scottish heroine Jane Marsh, who is currently living in California. Stella Gonet portrays each of the Scottish characters with light accents; the Americans sound native. Gonet's warm voice reflects the love of Jane's grandmother and father, and adjusts to the harsher tones of Sinclair's calculated love. This captivating tale is marred only by the low tone of Gonet's voice, which sometimes fades, requiring adjustment of the volume. M.B.K. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine

A California woman returns to her childhood home in Scotland--back to her beloved grandmother, the mystery of the heather-covered hills, and her recklessly handsome cousin Sinclair . . . the man she had always wanted to marry. 3.0étoiles sur 5 This is an older book, Janv. 9 2004
Par Un client
The reason this feels less in-depth than Pilcher's major novels is that this is actually an early novel that was re-released after she became a bestseller. Not to worry -- she is currently working on a new one, due out by Fall 2004. Meanwhile, try Winter Solstice and September, both of which I liked even better than The Shell Seekers......

3.0étoiles sur 5 A good but not perfect Pilcher outing, Nov. 26 2000
Par Fearless Artist (Pasadena, CA United States) - Voir tous mes commentaires
If you have never read Rosamunde Pilcher, start with Coming Home or The Shell Seekers or even the recent Winter Solstice. All are great representives of Pilcher's unique character-driven novels. This one, though fine, is too short in length as well as in character detail. It is a fine little "Pilcher fix", if you are a fan.

3.0étoiles sur 5 Easy reading, but not one of Rosemunde Pilcher's best., Mai 16 1999
Par Un client
"The End of Summer" was true to the Rosemunde Pilcher formula: conflicted heroine torn between two men. It was easy reading, predictable, but lacked the depth and character development of "Coming Home" and "The Shell Seekers." If you're looking for summer vacation or airport reading and you like Ms. Pilcher's work, this would fill the bill.
