Russell accepts and Stewart vows revenge. The lion's share of The Best Laid Plans revolves around the young pol's rise to power and Stewart's byzantine plotting to bring him to grief. Russell gives his phony wife plenty of opportunities because, like every fictional president (and some real ones), Russell has an unruly libido. Reading this book is like waiting for a train wreck, bracing for the inevitable collision; but to Sheldon's credit, the titanic scandal that ends the novel is not quite what you expect... The revenge of Leslie to Oliver is amazing, but more amazing is that at the end she didn't want to hear anything and that was part of her destruction even if she had in her wall an example of what is the wrongness thing a journalist can do, she just did that.
The Sarajevo's part is long an a little boring but at least you will know something of that part of the world.
The plot has so many twists that you will be lost knowing whom is who but you will never ever imagine this excellent end.

This book was a definite page turner. It was well written and never boring. The writer did an excellant job with the plot and with the characters. This was the second time that I read this book and I plan to read it again in the future.

I like Sidney Sheldon's books very much. So I didn't hesitate when I saw it in book store. I bought this book in 97 while I was in SF for sightseeing. I didn't read it until now I got time to read it through.

It begins with Lesile Stewart and end up with Dana Evans. The plain story started netting and put it all together in the end. Quick and simple. A little regret for Lesile Stewart, I thought there was account for her future or something.

The story reminds me the scandle of president Clinton. I wondered it was implying it. Maybe it's just a coincidence. ^^ The scandle is keeping in mind when I read it. However the end was really surprised me, I am fooled, I admit.

The skill of Sidney Sheldon seemed a little bit regress. It's regrettable. It seems the inspiration is dried up. There are few good authors here have same problem. Anyway, I look forward to see good pieces again from Sidney soon.
