(REAL NAME)
Welcome to Golden Sands, the dream condominium built on a weak foundation and a thousand dirty secrets. John D. MacDonald's biggest, most powerful novel to date.
Here is a paranoid look at the shocking facts of life in a Sun Belt community: the real estate swindles and political payoffs, the maintenance charges that run up and the health benefits that run out, the crackups and marital breakdowns, the disaster that awaits those who play in the path of the hurricane.....
From inside cover:

Everyone dreams of a place in the sun, High-rolling developer Marty Liss has made millions packaging and merchandising that dream. But for the residents of Golden Sands condominium the dream is becoming a nightmare.
The surly manager has an appetite for women, no taste for work, and an ironclad contract. And the manicured exterior of Golden Sands conceals a tangle of restless marriages and unsatisfied hungers....

5.0 out of 5 stars Where it all begins, May 8 2003
An awesome look at the reality of what they do to the old people here in Florida. MacDonald essentially indicts our entire society. This novel's more relevant today than ever, MacDonald was truly visionary. These characters are real people and they live here in Florida, except for the hero character, Sam Harrison, who might as well have been named Travis McGee. I haven't read all of Johnny Mac, but this might be his best one.

If you like exceptional writing, a fascinating plot, great dialog and a bit of sleaze, this is the book for you. Condominium is a perfect introduction to the incredible talents of John D. MacDonald. Buy it, read it, and be prepared to become addicted to the work of this great American writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden years, dream homes...only on the surface.
