4.0 out of 5 stars As far as Flinx adventures go, this one is right on target., Sep 29 2001

(REAL NAME)
For Love Of Mother-Not is Flinx's first adventure (chronologically in Flinx's life). Foster goes back in time to Flinx's adoption by Mother Mastiff, his discovery of Pip, the explaination for the source of Flinx's Talent (a shadowy group of scientists monkeying around with human genes to create a "super-human"). As far as Flinx adventures go, this one is right on target. Mother-Not is also a useful history for those wanting to read the entire Flinx series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book but 1 little Question, Aug 2 1998
By A Customer
This was a relativly good Sci-fi book but it had conflicting facts with the other books. One of them was that in "Mother" Flynx got Pip when he was in his mid or late teens but other books make it sound as though he found Pip when he was much younger. The book was entertaining but you can tell it was written after some of the others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me, Jun 15 1997
By A Customer
This is a OKAY book, not GREAT but OKAY. I have just started on the Pip&Flinx series and wa a bit apprehensive at first , but my fears was quickly put down.

This is the first book in the P&F series and it's purpose seems to be to build up the background for the characters, and that it does. A bit skimpy at times, but it still leaves you with a familiarity of the universe, atmosphere and characters that are paramount to series like this.

I won't class this book as "serious" sci-fi, but it's ENJOYABLE sci-fi.A trip away from the gloomy, depressive and defaistic sci-fi I've seen lately.

I don't regret buying THIS book.
