Kate, Victoria, and Stella were best friends at boarding school but lost touch until a chance meeting decades. Stella, the most outrageous of the trio, is a wealthy divorcee with a teenage daughter. Kate has married a once-famous actor who treats her badly and has burdened her with an ill-behaved stepson. Enter her old friend Inspector Hayes, who must find Stella's killer and unravel the unexpected connections between her death and the tragic events that led to it. Solid plot, intriguing (though not always likable) characters, and unexpected twists.
