Anna Rasini, a writer, has been living in her grandmother's home in Oxford, but now that her grandmother has died, she's at loose ends. Then she sees a painting in an art gallery that is remarkably similar to one owned by her grandmother. Suddenly, Anna feels a need to learn the painting's story.
