Product Description

From Amazon.com

Sloan Fairchild has made a rousing success of her elegant San Francisco bed-and-breakfast inn, but her love life has suffered--until her best friend's fiance comes to stay for a month. Should Sloan betray her friend, or deny her heart? A deeply romantic story of a woman forced to examine her conscience and make a hard decision. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

From Library Journal

While this novel won't likely be confused with Breakfast at Tiffany's, Brown's popularity is irrefutable. In this hardcover reissue of a 1991 romance, a woman is torn between loyalty to her best friend and lust for the friend's fiance.

3.0 out of 5 stars What fun... being served Breakfast in Bed!, Mar 17 2003
By janlouise (Ruston, LA United States) - See all my reviews
Want a fairly quick read full of sizzling romance- this is it! Single, Sloan is trying to make a go of her Bed & Breakfast. Carter is trying to get his lastest book written before it's deadline. He is to marry his deceased best friend's widow when he is through. Alicia, Sloan's best friend and Carter's fiancee, suggest that Carter get away for a while in seclusion so he can finish his book and they can get on with their lives. Alicia and Carter's relationship is not one of passion and love- oh, there's love there, Carter's love for his best friend's widow and sons who need a father figure and Alicia's love for deceased husband Jim's best friend to fill a void now in her life. But passion, no!

So Carter arrives at the B&B only to discover love at first sight and the same goes for Sloan. But how can Sloan and Carter pursue their unspoken passion for each other with the thought of betrayal to Alicia hunging in the air. Sweet, sweet romance!

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't like the abridged audio tape version!, Feb 19 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Breakfast in Bed (Audio Cassette)
I bought the abridged audio tape because I like the actress who reads it, I have seen her on several different soap operas and TV guest appearances and I have always though that she was a good actress but I'm disappointed with her reading of this book she sounded flat and unemotional and used the same voice for each character and I like it when they use different voices for all the different characters so I was just not happy with the audio tape at all and promptly gave it away! I see the unabridged audio tape version is read by someone else but since I didn't like the abridged tape version I definitely will not buy the unabridged tapes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing tale from Brown when she was a romance novelist, Feb 3 2002
By Blaine Greenfield "eclectic reader" (Belle Meade, NJ) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Heard the taped version of Sandra Brown's BREAKFAST IN
BED . . . written back in 1983, this appears to be one of her
earlier books . . . she was strictly a romance novelist then . . . Brown subsequently shifted gears to write mystery thrillers, many of which I have enjoyed (especially since they are almost always different) . . . what seems to have happened: when she became so popular, her publisher took to reissuing her earlier works in both paperback and cassette versions . . . this surprisingly engrossing tale is about a woman, jilted by her boyfriend, who directs all her energy into running an elegant
bed-and-breakfast inn . . . everything is safe and
comfortable until a successful author appears on her doorstep
to finish his latest project . . . they naturally fall in love; however, the author also happens to be her best friend's fiance . . . I must admit that several steamy love scenes also helped keep my attention . . . Richard Poe's narration was excellent.
