Product Description

The first book in #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown’s beloved Texas! trilogy introduces readers to a close-knit family struggling to go on without its patriarch—and to a man in pursuit of an elusive woman who may hold his future in her hands.

Charismatic and easy on the eyes, Lucky Tyler is a born rebel. His romantic conquests have earned him his nickname, while his temper gives him his reputation as the family hothead. One night, he gets in a fight over a woman in distress, followed by a night of passion neither of them will soon forget. But the lady in question has a knack for disappearing. When news breaks of a suspicious fire at Tyler Drilling, Lucky is the prime suspect. Now the mystery woman is more than just the object of his obsession. She’s his alibi.

Devon Haines has tried her best to escape Lucky. Yet his bold pursuit and self-assurance are irresistible. In order to clear him of criminal charges, she must reveal her darkest secret; withholding her help could cost him everything he holds dear. Either way, she risks losing him forever.

4.0 out of 5 stars SEX, SUSPENSE, AND SCANDALOUS DOINGS, Jan 30 2009
By Gail Cooke (TX, USA) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Followers of Sandra Brown's titles (55+ NY Times bestsellers) know what to expect - hefty doses of sex, suspense and scandalous doings. They'll not be disappointed with Texas! Lucky and will be especially pleased with a voice performance by actress Coleen Marlo. This is a reading to be remembered - Marlo taught acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute for ten years and certainly knows her way around a script. Her television appearances include Murder She Wrote and China Beach, while on the stage she's been seen in A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. This is one audio book you may want to listen to twice and then share with friends!

The action in the story couldn't take place anywhere but the Lone Star State. Lucky Tyler is the quintessential fictional Texan - a good looking ladies man with a trigger temper. One night he's hanging out in a way less than 5-star bar when a gorgeous redhead begins to get unwanted attention from some locals. Lucky, of course, to the rescue!

Now, you'd think a lady pulled from the jaws of distress would show some gratitude but no - Devon Haines hopped into her car and took off. Lucky set out to find her and that he did, ending in one of Brown's famous night scenes. However despite this nocturnal pleasure Devon disappeared again. As it happened a fire broke out at Tyler Drilling at the same time Lucky and Devon were making the earth move. He needs an alibi and she needs to keep a secret.

Vintage Brown, memorable Marlo = entertainment and enjoyment.

- Gail Cooke

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Beginning to the Texas Trilogy! 4.5 Stars!!!, Jul 3 2003
By Tracy Talley "Book Addict" (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Texas! Lucky (Paperback)
What do you get when you mix a Texan hothead with a mysterious redhead in a seedy bar who seems to want to get into trouble with the town's worst kind?
Trouble, with a captial T, and Lucky is the man to rescue the damsel in distress and get a whole lot of fight for his trouble.
Lucky Tyler is the younger of the two brothers known throughout the tiny East Texas town as the scoundrels of Milton Point.
Rogues if you will. Women can't resist them and men fear them.
Lucky is blindsided when this woman strides into the seediest bar in the county simply known as the 'place' and attracts a whole lot of trouble from the local bruisers.
The woman doesn't seem to need any saving, or so she says and storms out of the bar, but Lucky is determined to not let her storm out of his life until she samples what he is so famous for.
The 'woman' in question makes it clear she is no 'woman' and is Devon Haines, THE Devon Haines from Dallas, newspaper reporter.
But she lies and tells Lucky her name is simply 'Dovey' when he catches up to her in a seedy motel off the highway.
Sparks fly and both end up in bed, but by morning, she's gone without a trace.
Sparking something inside Lucky, he is determined to find her at any cost, just to see why she interested him so much, but soon it becomes a matter of need, rather than curiosity when he finds himself framed for a fire set to his family business, Tyler Drilling.
She's his only alibi.
But who is she?
Old enemies and scandal are deep here in Milton Point, but even more secrets abound after she is found...she's more than he thought she was and has a past worth hiding....

Fast-paced and sexy, Lucky is all sex appeal that will have you smirking and sighing at once. 'Dovey' is the perfect match for the hothead of Milton Point.

4.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for overall Tyler trilogy!, Mar 18 2003
This review is from: Texas! Lucky (Paperback)
This was a good story. I really enjoyed the characters, first and secondary. Especially the witty banter between all of them. The only thing that was truly annoying was the heroine of the story. I can accept her history, but... I just don't think a woman, having been portrayed as such an intelligent and very independent woman, in her situation, would first off, stay married to the jerk. And second, be so blind to his character. Realistically she should have already come to terms with the fact that she should have gotten an annulment months before. At least she should have admitted it to herself after she meets Lucky, and not been so frustratingly "hard to get." It only makes the story unrealistic, it doesn't enhance it one bit. I kept thinking, "What's her problem?" And when I found out, it still just wasn't believable. I would have thought she would have found in him someone that she could lean on after being alone so long. And the hesitation on her part to admit her feelings to Lucky and even herself was unbelievably prolonged for such a short story. At the end I said to myself "They were only truly happy in the Epilogue!" This could have been a lot better with a different twist, but I still give it four stars. Because the Tyler's are truly an interesting and great family. I haven't read many books that could bring tears to my eyes, and this one does.
