Flynn continues to ratchet up the stakes for CIA assassin Mitch Rapp, who here battles a Saudi billionaire bent on revenge, an ex–East German Stasi spy and a deadly husband-and-wife team of assassins. After a knee operation and an even more serious mishap, Mitch is out of the hospital and hot on the trail of the evildoers. Meanwhile, Mitch's wife, NBC White House correspondent Anna Reilly, who has been in jeopardy in other Flynn novels like The Third Option, announces midway that she's pregnant: even the dullest of readers will know big trouble is in store. Besides terrorists and assassins, Mitch has to battle the new national director of intelligence, a craven, hypocritical, inside-the-Beltway operator. When Mitch whacks this twerp on the side of the head with a heavy file during a high-level meeting, readers will stand up and cheer. Flynn is sometimes criticized for turning out formulaic work, and while that description fits here, he perfectly measures all of the ingredients for a fast and furious read.

Saeed Ahmed Abdullah holds Rapp personally responsible for the death of his son, a terrorist whose plot against the USA was foiled by Rapp. Abdullah wants revenge; with the help of his friend Rashid a plan is set in motion to assassinate Rapp. Once a hunter, now Rapp the hunted must rely on his sharp instinct for survival..

The writing, plotting and pacing made the story of this book grabbing from the start. There is lots of action, impressive suspense throughout. This book was quite a ride, lots of emotional ups and downs and many surprises. All of Flynn's characters are intensely vivid and have a terrific personality. Rapp is shown a little more human and less a superman this time as he goes through a personal crisis. In this sequel to Memorial Day the political gamesmanship does not stop, very entertaining.

You have to read this book, but i would suggest reading at least two of the other rapp books. Just to get an idea of who rapp is and the people around him.

onto the book:

this book is so interesting, i read it in two days. I was unable to put it down. The idea of the book is different to all of the others as well, with rapp the complete focus of attention. Normally he is brought in to solve a problem, this time, someone else believes that he is the problem and so on and so forth.
There is hardly any of the pollitical intrigue of the other books, but what little there is very interesting and excellently written by Mr. Vince Flynn.
When he writes the action it is amazing, putting images in my head of each broken bone or shot to the gut.
I think that mitch Rapp is one of the coolest characters in books right now, along with Rand al'thor from the wheel of time books and The Scarecrow from the Matt Reilly books. Rapp is not your usual hero who will show restraint when a questionable decision is put his way, he will do anything he thinks is neccessary to get the job done.
The other characters are well fleshed out, giving you a good idea of who they are and what they are about.
The only bad thing about the book is the blurb, DO NOT READ IT, i think it gives too much away.
Bye this book, you are sure to enjoy it.

I simply could not put this book down!I loved all of the previous Mitch Rapp books,but this one is the best! I simply could not turn the pages fast enough!The way Vince Flynn built up the suspense was superb,the action thrilling.Do not hesitate to buy this book!You will not be disappointed, until you realize you will have to wait for the next book to come out!
