4.0 out of 5 stars A Constant Reference, Jan 19 2004
By Jamie Jeffords (South Carolina) - See all my reviews

I have pulled this book off the shelf numerous times since I bought it a few weeks ago usually as a challenge. The game is that I catch a snippet-a planet name or such-on TV or a movie, and quickly look to see if it's in here. I have yet to be disappointed. It's all here. While it would seem short for its steep price, this atlas is worth every penny for the pedantic Trekker who needs everything just right. My only gripe is that I wish there had been more details regarding some of the more important destinations. An index would have been nice to help find some of the more obscure places, too. Regardless, this is great for those who enjoy both the scientific and political aspects of Star Trek. There's something for everyone. Here's hoping there comes an updated edition in the future that features some of the spots Enterprise has visited.

4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely well done graphics, Sep 4 2003

Very high-quality, full color graphics on every page. Diagrams of every part of the 'known' galaxy. Flight paths of the all the series' major ships (including several pages of Voyager's journey home from the Delta quadrant). Nice catalog of all the planet types (class M etc.) as well as the known planets (Earth, Vulcan, Q'onoS etc.)

Definately belongs in any Trekies' library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for any Star Trek fan, Aug 17 2003
By Tuvan Uner (Virginia,United States) - See all my reviews

I was impressed with this book. Being a STAR TREK fan for 20 years it caught my attention. First lets go over the bad points of this book.

1)Leaves out Alpha Centauri in the Worlds Section. Wanted to know more about this world as it was a founding member of the UFP.

2)Lacks more pages. I admit 96 pages is great but I was expecting more like 150+. Surely there's enough content out there.

3)Leaves out alot in the Voyager section like worlds visited and woulda liked to know more about the Equinox's travels as well.

4)Leaves out many Star Trek worlds and not enough information on certain worlds like the Breen Confederacy and Tholia. Would like to know more about these guys as they are major players in the Star Trek Universe.

Ok what I liked!!! The pages are glossy. Great information on the founding worlds of the Federation. I loved the section on the description of worlds (e.g. Class M,P,Y,etc.) as this shed alot of light about which world was what class(Even though I knew what a class M was before I read the book). Great maps of all the major powers of the ST:Universe. Also alot of work was put into this book and by far the best ST book out there. Anyway what keeps this from being a 5-star selection is the minor errors and deletions but I'm sure by the time a second edition comes along the problems and errors will be worked out.So if you love ST buy this book you wont be dissapointed... I wasnt!!!
