Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

This guide to "ageless living" is primarily directed at women over 40, and while it doesn't contain any startling revelations or blazingly new information, the advice offered is solid and based in common sense. Haddon, a model who is, like her intended audience, a midlife woman, rightly contends that "everywhere we turn the media celebrates youth and tends to ignore a huge chunk of the population-us." So rather than focus on looking younger, Haddon takes a more holistic approach and emphasizes looking and feeling better at any age: "The Ageless Living Principles show us the choices and paths that lead us to live our true life, our fullest life, and our highest life." The author cites five areas that hold the key to her concept of ageless living-appearance, spirit, wisdom, body and relationships. Haddon's pointers, however, often tend toward the obvious. It probably won't come as a surprise to most readers that "when we don't make an effort with our appearance, we can feel distracted and vulnerable," or that Haddon's best beauty secret is "sunblock, sunblock, sunblock!" Nevertheless, it's still good advice, as are Haddon's exhortations to enjoy nature, eat healthy foods, quit smoking and exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for those over 40!, Jun 27 2003
By Melissa Pogue (Dallas, Texas) - See all my reviews
After Dayle Haddon so kindly dropped by our book club after a Book Signing she had in Dallas, our group decided to read 'The 5 Principles' that month. When I purchased it, I thought it wouldn't apply to me (I'm 29) & might be something I'd pass along to my mom, but I was wrong! It not only hands out great information about health & beauty, but focuses on even more important issues in life - such as spirituality, wisdom & staying connected (my favority principle). And how very impressed I am with Dayle Haddon because she practices what she preaches! She mentioned joining our Book Club via phone the next month (to stay connected!), and she did! Everyone, no matter their age, will learn very valuable things from this book... I highly recommend it! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Really Does Begin at Forty, Jun 4 2003
Thank you, Dayle Haddon! You've written a valuable book that every woman should read, no matter what her age. Looking around at the Britneys and the Christinas--and at all the hype that surrounds them--we could so easily get the idea that our worth is determined by our age, our weight, or our dress size. But that's not true, and that's why we all need to read the Five Principles of Ageless Living, to take to heart these inspiring and uplifting words, and to really understand that we can live uncumbered by the age on our driver's license. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this book!, May 26 2003
By "mduca5" (Portland, Oregon) - See all my reviews
Dayle Haddon's book has been so inspirational for me. This book is about so much more than beauty or health. It's about feeling wonderful about yourself and not limiting yourself because of your age.

Haddon makes me believe that age is truly a psychological limititation and should never be allowed to determine the feelings I feel or the activities I spend time doing. I can't describe how powerful her words and advice are, but I wholly recommend this book to anyone. You will love it, I guarantee.
