Book Description

The remnants of the ragtag fleet and the battle-scarred Galactica have escaped the clutches of the Cylons and warped into an unknown quadrant of the galaxy. It is a pocket of null-space in which their stardrives will not work. To make matters worse, the recent conflicts have left many wounded and medical supplies are critically low . . . as are the fleet¹s food resources and fuel supplies.

While scouts venture forth in search of a habitable planet, the civilian population of the fleet rebels. Fights over the dwindling supplies break out among civilian factions, and the military is called upon to restore order, which only serves to heighten the tensions. And, once again, accusing fingers are pointed squarely at the man whose responsibility it is to assure the safety and well-being of all: Apollo. Even members of the Galactica¹s bridge crew turn against him.

Adding to the growing tensions is the fact that Troy and Dalton, Trays and Boomer‹the planetary search parties‹are missing. But the real stunner is the revelation that Casseopia is pregnant, and that she has acknowledged Apollo as the father!

Apollo and Athena are relieved of their commands and thrown into the brig. Civilians take over and chaos reigns‹just in time for the Cylons to arrive. And soon after the Cylons, the even more deadly, alien Chitain show up. Apollo must somehow regain command of the fleet, organize a fight against the Cylons and Chitain, find a way to resupply the fleet and devise an escape route from the pocket of null-space in which they are stuck, before it implodes and destroys everything and everyone caught in it.

4.0 out of 5 stars the adventure continues in book 4, Jul 3 2004
By Max (Hell's Kitchen) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rebellion (Hardcover)
The scewed up thing about these BATTLESTAR books is that book 3 was put out in hard back as a ROUGH DRAFT! Things got slightly better with book 4 but that hard back also had mistakes and typos in it! At this point a lot of fans gave up the ghost.
BUT: They have promised to fix mistakes in the second printings so I've been hunting for the paper back versions. Book 3 in paper back is the revised and finished draft. IT ROCKS! Much much better.
I admit I liked REBELLION in hard back despite the goofs but after seeing the improved RESURRECTION I'd like to see the revised paper back of book 4 too. Until then I can only rate the first printing. First printing grade: Solid B for story and characters. I can't say enough good things about the TRUE version of RESURRECTION which has been printed in paper back.
I hope the same is true of REBELLION.

5.0 out of 5 stars five stars for entertainment value, Jun 30 2004
By Leslie Huber (Cleveland OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rebellion (Hardcover)
Over the past few months I have begun watching the Battlestar Galactica televison program for the first time. I was never much of a science fiction fan and had limited access to televison while growing up. I didn't see the Battlestar Galactica televison series until my husband purchased the complete series on DVD.

I became an instant fan after Saga of a Star World. I then began reading my husbands collection of Battlestar Galactica books by Richard Hatch. Both the books and the series have flaws (what doesn't?), but they also have wonderful characters, heart, imagination, and warmth. There's a special charm to Battlestar Galactica. Watching the episodes and reading the books has been five star experience for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars i love this series, Jun 20 2004
By Cain (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rebellion (Hardcover)
It's too bad that the folks at i books have had such bad luck trying to find a half decent editor. Richard Hatch's Battlestar Galactica books started out as a very well done series. Books 1 and 2 were very good, but then with book 3 things took a turn for the worst and left a lot to be desired in the editing department. In some cases the paperback book versions were a great improvement over the hardback versions, but fans who had bought the more expensive hardbacks were very unhappy with the sloppy way those were put together. I'm glad i books is putting these books out. They are also putting out classic Galactica novels.I'm glad the paperback versions of Hatch's novels are well done, but it's too bad the sloppy way i books failed to properly edit the hard back versions gained this series such bad reviews. This really is a great series and Hatch has some fantastic ideas and a real feel for the characters. Stay away fron the hardback versions, but give the paperbacks a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great story
The editor of this book (if there was one) should be executed, but the negative reviews on here are too harsh. This is a great yarn. Read more
