Product Description

Meet Tali, Schuyler, and Kim. Best friends since college, each twenty-something (okay, almost thirty) has seen her share of career foils and romantic foibles in the world's greatest city, New York. Having been friends for more than a decade, they know that they all need a change. On Valentine's Day, they are each alone for one reason or another. At dinner together, the trio makes a pact. Within one year, each woman will change the thing that most challenges her.

For Tali, good Tali, whose boyfriend of five years just left her for a personal trainer, it will be to find romance -- or a fling -- in every foreign country she visits (and given her job as a secret shopper for high-end resorts, she goes to a lot of foreign countries). For Schuyler, a book editor, her goal is to get on the other side of the typewriter and write her own book -- much to the dismay of her boyfriend, who is a Very Public Figure. And for commitment-phobic, Daddy's little rich-girl, Kim (she can't hold a job, or a boyfriend, unless he's married and therefore erratic and unattainable) , her goal is to have an engagement ring and a house in Scarsdale.

Each woman starts the first day of the year of reckoning with the best of intentions -- which is exactly why the pact goes immediately, and exceptionally, awry.

Filled with the delicious insider details (of a celebrity-level (or celebrity-wannabe) lifestyle), Chasing Harry Winston brings listeners once again into the heart of an elite world, where friendships will be tested to the point of breaking.

Let the games begin.

2.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like this....but just couldn't!, Jun 8 2008
This review is from: Chasing Harry Winston (Hardcover)
I am an avid reader, but I have never felt the need to post a review until I read this book. I am currently living abroad, and with a long journey ahead of me a few days ago, I was delighted to come accross this book in the very limited English language book section of my local train station. Having enjoyed Lauren Weisberger's last 2 books, I was certain my train trip would fly by...I couldn't have been more wrong. This book was so disappointing! I am no expert, but considering the fact that she has already published 2 bestselling books, I would have expected Ms. Weisberger to have the ability to draw me in to her writing, characters, and storyline much better than she did. The book just did not flow! Frequently I had to keep turning back a page to make sure that I hadn't accidently skipped a page or missed a paragraph. It felt as if scenes were just thrown in because the author or someone she knows had once experienced them and she felt they would be funny to recreate. However, they seemed to just abruptly end without advancing or supporting the plot leaving me rather confused (i.e. the trip to Curaco/Bonaire the main characters embark on). I could never really sympathize or relate to the characters even though we are in the same stage of life, and I felt there was nothing to really motivate them through their journey. I was simply left with a ''who cares'' kind of feeling. Although I did finish the book, it was simply because I was hoping that it would get better, and the other alternative involved staring out the train window for 5 hours. Although this review probably won't discourage diehard fans of 'The Devil Wears Prada'' or ''Everyone Worth Knowing'', I really hope that Lauren Weisberger's next offering is a step up from this one. Even then, I would not risk buying the next one, but instead wait for it at the library, or for it to be passed on by someone else. I will only pass this book on to my other english speaking friends here so they don't waste their own money purchasing it.

2.0 out of 5 stars I kept waiting ....., Jun 20 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Chasing Harry Winston (Hardcover)
I really wanted to enjoy this novel. No matter how far I read, it just never got off the ground. The story lines were weak as were the characters. There was no depth to this novel in any form. A good beach read....maybe. I could not reccommend this novel to others.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Real Hoot, Sep 10 2009
By Toni Osborne "The Way I See It" (Montreal, Canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
Anyone that reads chick-lit, Lauren Weisberger has to be on top of your list. She definitely shows a real talent in captivating her audience by drawing original and interesting sagas in the lives of her female characters.

This latest is centered on Leigh, Emma and Adriana, three single women in their late 20's living in Manhattan. The novel focuses on each individual as the girls self analyze themselves expressing their need for constant validation for their good looks and sex appeal. They are determined to catch eligible prospects at any cost. No holds barred.

This novel can't be taken too seriously; I found it to be a hoot at times, terribly funny. The characters are depicted in a very narcissistic way, superficial and immature, highlighting the worst of the female stereotypical characteristic in each of them.
The feminists may feel offended by some of the ways the women are perceived. I found their adventures hilarious.

This is a fast, an easy read, a real soap opera script one that may tickle your fancy...

1.0 out of 5 stars Brutally bad
Others have outlined the plot, so I just have to add my agreement that it was weak, the characters two-dimensional and not really likeable, and the editing was pretty brutal. Read more
