From Amazon.com

With six two-page spreads featuring the key scenes from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, this Harry Potter pop-up book allows younger children to begin to experience the thrilling saga of Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts. Every page literally pops out with creative 3-D engineering in full color, while pull-tabs allow readers to bring a Quidditch game to life or help Harry see his heart's desire in the Mirror of Erised. The cartoonish art is muddy and unspectacular, but fans and collectors blinded by their enthusiasm for the boy wizard may not care a bit. From Publishers Weekly

With more than seven million copies of Sorcerer's Stone and its two sequels sold in the U.S. in a year's time, it would be hard to find many school-age children who haven't at least heard of Harry Potter. British author Rowling's tales of a young wizard-in-training who attends the unusual Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry have enchanted children (and their parents, too) like no books before them. Now, with this sharp audio production, those who haven't yet met Harry will soon be swept up in the fun, and established Potter fans will delight in hearing Harry's adventures anew. British actor and Broadway star Dale is an inspired choice as narrator, reading with a light, assured air that makes Harry's fantastic, sometimes dangerous, world very real, while never losing sight of Rowling's humorous underpinnings. His numerous vocal characterizations are dead-on, especially his fast-talking take on Harry's sweet but overachieving witch friend Hermione Granger. A gruff and sensitive Hagrid (the school's gamekeeper), evil Malfoy, kindly Dumbledore and appropriately Scottish Professor McGonagall are also crisply distinctive. The combination of Rowling's exquisitely evocative writing and Dale's nimble reading make this a magical addition to the bewitching Harry Potter canon. All ages. (Oct.)

1.0étoiles sur 5 Dull, derivative, unimaginative, Déc 14 2001
Well, you can't please everyone. I decided to try this book because of its phenomenal success and popularity. I can now say that I have read it and I found it a dull affair. Rowling is not a good writer. The book is episodic and the narrative doesn't really move along. While everyone else praises the book for its display of imagination, I didn't find one novel idea or incident in it. The wit was weak, the characters one dimensional, the plot uninteresting. Rowling has taken fictional bits and pieces from dozens of other children's books and whipped up a stew out of them which lacks originality and force. More grievously, there is an emptiness behind it all. A book for very, very easily entertained (and not very literate) children.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Saved me., Nov. 8 2009

Almost pointless for me to even review this book with the 4,000+ reviews so far but since it is my favourite series I feel I must.
I think the thing that is so great about this series is that even though it is a VERY easy read, there is such an amazing description of this other world that you can actually get lost in it. It is so unlike our ordinary lives but the characters are so easily relatable that you can actually believe this world could be real.
This book I think saved my life. I read it at a time when I was so depressed and had almost given up completely. I picked up The Sorcerer's Stone on sale to see what the hype was about. I couldn't put it down. There were five books out at the time and so bought the other four right away. And now every time I start to feel a little down I read Harry Potter and it picks me right up and takes me away from my own problems. I have since recruited 3 Potter fans. It's a shame the series ended and I hope J.K. is working on something else that is equally amazing.
