This is not just book a for those of us who are detective fiction fans however and enjoy the Mrs. Bradley Masteries by Gladys Mitchell and Lord Peter Wimsey by Dorothy L Sayers and the like. It also just a good book well worth reading by anyone who likes to read. It's is a nice whodunit with some interesting puzzles to unravel. It also takes a poke at some interesting stereo types. I wish I could tell you more about this but that would take away the pleasure you will have finding out for your selves. The fallowing was taken straight from the back of the book and is quite accurate.
Outside Alderly, the Earl of Burford's 17th century estate the weather is decidedly parky .Inside the atmosphere is definitely nervous-making. the loopy lord has thrown an impromptu house party for his favorite film star and a Hollywood producer who wants the family manse for the set of his next movie. Geraldine, the Earl's daughter has brought home two suitors of questionable pedigree, and the Countess Lavina, the Earl's wife is looking aghast at a growing list of guests that includes a long lost cousin, a hot tempered femme fatale, a bespectacled librarian, and an eccentric screenwriter. Put this zany cast of characters into the milieu of1930's upper-class England add secret passage, a famous gun collection, and a butler named Merryweather and you have the mysteries are made of. ... a particularly pleasing puzzler sure to baffle and delight whodunit fans
