1.0 out of 5 stars Series got worse with every book, Jun 16 2008
By Lucy Loo "Lucybear05" (Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
So I loved the first book in the series, and really liked the second, and the third was fairly good...and you get the drift. By the time I got to this one, I was not a big fan. And the pattern continued without alteration. This was a bad book. Not a terrible book. Julia Quinn can write. It was just that the books got more trite, and more like silly hollywood romantic comedies, with every installment. This was boring, with a silly plot and unlikeable characters. The hero was quite annoying, and completely ridiculous. I have rarely found a hero so unattractive. I think he says "I love you", quite literally, about 386 times in this book. There is no real suspense or passion. He falls in love with one girl, and then another, and both instances read the same. If you like the lightest, fluffiest, silliest kinds of regency historical romances, then buy this. If you want any substance, skip it.
