This is an excellent book written in the style of Catherine Cookson. The story takes place during the depression years in a mining town; and it continues throughout World War Two, and thereafter. Carrie McDarmount is just 15 when she is raped at her sisters wedding. Soon after Carrie finds that she is with child. Carrie now has to make the biggest decision in her young life. So much happens to Carrie over the years. From finding out she is pregnant, to surviving the air raids of World War Two, and dealing with hurtful family members. This is truly a heart warming book. You won't be disappointed by it!
