Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

Remember the 80s, when padded shoulders and big hair sprayed 'dos were all the rage? Louise Bagshawe, it seems, is spearheading an 80s literary revival The Devil You Know is this young author's seventh novel (other titles include Career Girls, Tall Poppies, A Kept Woman, so you know this author's stalking ground; money, men, high-flying jobs) and stars three sisters who defiantly want it all.

The opening 20 pages are a little ludicrous, featuring an evil brother, a handsome, daredevil Italian count, his gypsy wife, and their triplet girls who are adopted, following their parents' horrible murders. The action swishes ahead a bit and we meet gorgeous Rose, who lives in a poor area of New York, but who is destined to become a property tycoon. Then there's stunning Poppy, an American Jewish princess obsessed by heavy metal, and who ends up in the rock & roll world. And lastly there's Daisy, overweight and stuck in an English boarding school. But with a little application she sheds the pounds and transforms herself into a best selling romantic novelist.

So that's the ambitious careers sorted out. But what about their love lives? Just as glamorous; the Superwomen end up with a real estate giant, a senator and a media magnate respectively. The Devil You Know is a high concept read where revenge is always sweet and the grooming impeccable. --Eithne Farry --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Rose Fiorello has nothing. Nothing that is except a mane of blue-black hair, she-wolf eyes and a blistering hatred of Rothstein Realty, the ruthless property developer that crushed her father's business like a cockroach. She's vowed to make Rothstein's pay and when she meets Jake, the sexy, arrogant heir to the Rothstein fortune, revenge might just be within reach. Poppy Allen has the perfect LA princess lifestyle: wealthy parents, a lovely home and looks that stop traffic. But Poppy wants more; she craves the excitement of rock 'n' roll. With a razor-sharp eye for business, she's nobody's fool. She doesn't want to be the star, she wants to be the star-maker. For Daisy Markham, life at her English boarding school is unbearable. Overweight and underachieving, she escapes by devouring glitzy novels. And she's starting to think she'd be better off writing them rather than reading them, if she could just dare herself to try. Three women determined to get exactly what they want. But they share more than burning ambition and dreams of success. They share a secret that's going to unite them in a way they could never have imagined...Dripping glamour and excitement from Los Angeles to London, THE DEVIL YOU KNOW is the latest spellbinding read from bestseller Louise Bagshawe.

4.0 out of 5 stars Same As Before, But Never Boring, Jan 11 2004
By A Customer
First, I have to say that I really admire and respect Ms. Bagshawe for having obtained so much success at such a young age. I wish I had the amount of ambition and intelligence Ms Bagshawe has.

Second, although "The Devil You Know" has the same formula as all of Ms. Bagshawe's books- beautiful, ambitious women
+ sexist as well as sexy, rich men- she never fails to suck the reader in with her juicy plots until she or he almost physically cannot put the book down and has devoured every deliciously naughty detail.

Lastly, I would definitely recommend "The Devil You Know" and all of Ms. Bagshawe's books to any one who wants a vacation from his or her-mostly her-drab little life and wants to explore the world of some of the sexiest and most ambitious characters ever in print.

By Isobel Lockwood (new york, NY, USA) - See all my reviews
It's about 3 girls who are the decendents of a wealthy royal family but because of their jealous-filled uncle, their parents are dead and they grow up not knowing each other in different parts of the world. The triplets' struggles in succeding in their chosen fields lead them to find each other and avenge their birth-parent's murderer. If you liked this author's preious books and enjoy her style you'll love this one.
