Product Description

Product Description

Sherwood Smith is "a writer who is making her bid to be a major fantasist."( Orson Scott Card)

Inda, on the verge of adulthood, is at last coming home. At age eleven he'd been exiled from his kingdom, but when he learns that his homeland is about to be invaded, he ends his exile to report the imminent attack. Pressed into service as the king's "royal shield arm," Inda must now defend the kingdom-for his reputation as the captain who defeated the most dangerous pirate fleet in history makes him the only man who stands a chance to defeat his country's ancient enemy. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful wrap up of this trilogy, Aug 12 2008
By C. Cameron (Vancouver, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Kings Shield (Hardcover)
Sherwood Smith has always written vivid fantasy, and in Indra, the first of these three books, she gives us a different world and fascinating characters. In book two, the Fox, the titular character is (understandably) bitter and I found that book harder going (most of it takes place at sea which interests me less than on land), but in Kings Shield she moves things along quickly and made me late to work while I read it. Her characters work and you care and just enough is wrapped up that you're content and you can see what might happen in their future. And the ending is quietly spectacular. I loved it.
