Product Description

From Booklist

Imagine that Alaska became its own country and that it is the present day and Alaska has a royal family, who, although they live in a palace in Juneau, are down-to-earth. The king, especially, enjoys going "native," growing a beard and chartering a fishing boat incognito. It is during one of these excursions that he decides that a fellow passenger would make a perfect wife for his eldest son, David. Christina is a wandering soul alone in the world, who not only ends up at the palace but quickly becomes a valued member of the household. She and David hit it off, but the day after their wedding, they are confronted with a crisis of major proportions. What's difficult to believe (once you get past picturing Alaska as a country) is that anyone would envision Christina as a princess: she has a mouth like a longshoreman. But it's fun to watch her and David, two opposite personalities, come together in Davidson's quirky tale. Maria Hatton

Product Description

In a world nearly identical to ours, the North won the Civil War, Ben Affleck is the sexiest man alive, and Russia never sold Alaska to the U.S. Instead, Alaska is a rough, beautiful country ruled by a famously eccentric royal family, and urgently in need of a bride for the Crown Prince. But they have no idea what they're in for when they offer the job to a feisty commoner

3.0 out of 5 stars Diving in the Shallow End, Jul 18 2004
By D. Hunt "dhunt2" (West Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Royal Treatment (Paperback)
If I were a stranger in a strange land, I too would welcome the open arms of a Gentle Ben king and his kooky family; however, I would move at a much slower pace and with a little less confidence. Christina Krabbe (silent "e") is just a little too confident. I never thought I would say that about a character, but once you breeze through this lighthearted romance, you'll see what I mean. My least favorite thing about certain romance novels is a heroine that is so self-absorbed, she's always right, always "cute," and wins over everybody. You know the kind that falls into a pile of You-Know-What and comes out smelling like a rose. Sadly to say, Christina is loved by all - family, press, and household staff (even an ex-boyfriend) with the eye-rolling exasperation of the too-cute-for words, "Oh, it's just Christina" excuse that is beat to death with every scene.
This could be a great series. Fast-paced dialogue, quirky characters, and a fantastic setting. Next time do the reader a favor and give us characters with a little more depth. Poor David, clueless as he appears (a little unrealistic that the "Sexiest Royal Alive" would be so socially delayed at 30-something he wouldn't know how to woo a woman), could have been a hero to remember, but....Christina's annoying demeanor overshadows any other character's personality, kinda like a bull in a china shop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny & Sexy, Jul 15 2004
By Lynda (Santee, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Royal Treatment (Paperback)
I just loved this book. Christina is pure joy. Says what is on her mind, good or bad. Prince David is so sexy and when they get together, Alaska will never be the same. The royal family is also full of quirky individuals that are just begging to have their own stories written. I hope we do not have to wait too long for the next peek into the "Alaskan Royal Family".

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious............, Jun 22 2004

I snatched this book at the store when I saw it and never regretted it. Christina Krabbe alone and unemployed picked up by a Cruise ship with a crazy, but lovable King with a lot of kids, one who is named David who is eligble and enjoys penguins. I will not go into any more, but to tell you to read and enjoy. I want a sequel Mrs. Davidson, one featuring Alexa, Katheryn, and their youngest brother. I WANT MOREEEEEE OF THIS FAMILY........... Full of humor and fun

4.0 out of 5 stars A really fun book!
I enjoyed this book a lot (but not as much as UNDEAD AND UNWED). The characters weren't as deep as in UDEAD and I think that kept this book from being a keeper for me. Read more
