2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, April 10 2004
By A Customer
I bought this book based on the (two) 5 star reviews. I found the recipes called for hard to find ingredients, took a lot of preparation, and turned out disappointing results. I intend to find another slow cooker cookbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars I hate casseroles- - -LOVE this book!!, Jul 22 2003
By kelly rossiter (Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada) - See all my reviews
The recipes aren't what you'd expect from a slow cooker book-some even taste like stir-fries, no soggy vegetables and mixed flavours-every recipe I've tried is delicious. I normally avoid one dish meals as I don't like flavour mingling-but these are the exception. The slow cooker's a great thing and this book gives new ideas and modern twists on oldies like Beef Bourgeon,Roast beef/chicken etc-absolutely wonderful recipes!!
Honestly, these recipes were one of the main reasons I bought a slow cooker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Innovative and fun, Sep 8 2002
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
Slow cooking has been the subject of competing titles, but The Slower Cooker Cookbook offers a twist: dishes which are not usually seen in the other casserole-oriented books. Take a sauteed Chinese Style Duck for example: the slow cooker here approximates a stir fry which much less effort. Or, consider Spicy Swordfish with Coconut; a very different slow cooker main dish. Innovative and fun.
