From Amazon.co.uk

The third tale from the Mazalan Book of the Fallen, Memories of Ice is a convoluted military fantasy even more dense than its two predecessors. A deranged and not necessarily human prophet has set a cannibal rabble to conquer a continent, and various armies and wizards are out to stop him--but their reasons for doing this are many, various and often conflicting. The previous two books Gardens of the Moon and Deadhouse Gates were full of mysteries, some of them answered here--Erikson's is a world in which gods ascend from humanity to replace gods that fall or are overthrown and in which the world and the supernatural warrants that surround it are full of relics of past gods and past cultures. Young officer Paran tries to make sense of the return of his dead beloved as one of the four souls of a magical child; his commander Whiskeyjack tries to do the right thing as both soldier and human being; the scout Toc tries to survive hideous torture and pass on information he only partly knows. Erikson creates an impressive dark world of brutality and sudden beauty in which dizzying vistas of times past suddenly open; his work repays the concentration needed to follow his complex plotting and sentences. --Roz Kaveney --Ce texte provient d'une édition qui n'est plus publiée ou qui est non diponible.

From Publishers Weekly

Steven Erikson serves up the third installment in his Malazan Book of the Fallen series with Memories of Ice, a doorstopper of a tome in which a huge cast of characters mercenaries, army men, priests, warlords, wolves and bonecasters fight to free the continent of Genabackis from the evil Pannion Domin empire. Certain names from Garden of the Moon will be familiar to readers, as will Erikson's particular combination of lush description, sharp dialogue and fantastical, grand imagination. --Ce texte provient d'une édition qui n'est plus publiée ou qui est non diponible.

5.0étoiles sur 5 The best book I've ever read!, Nov. 5 2008
Par Sebastien Boisvert (quebec, canada) - Voir tous mes commentaires

The first book in the serie was one of the best book i've ever read and the second was great (really hard to love all-new character when you want to know more about the other characters). But the third book is just the best book I've ever read. There,s drama, action, humor, suspense and everything a book need to be great.

I was reveted to the book all the way through the shocking climax of the novel. I could'nt believe all the stuff that is happening in the book and all the work that the author must do to keep everything logic and on the table like this.

I simply recommand this series to anyone who want a good written novel, which need work to understand though (character list of 4 page at the beggining and 4 page of glossary a the end)but so rewarding.

Thank you Mr. Erikson this book made me enjoy reading one again.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Best book ever!, Sep 12 2006

The above title says everything. As far as i am concerned this is the greatest book ever written, not just Fantasy, but of any genre. It was an exhausting read, not because its long, but because you are drawn 100% into his world, you live everything the characters live, you cheer, you boo and when certain things happen your jaw will drop and you shall be amazed. If you love reading, then pick up all 6 books of the malazan series. Read this series.
5 stars is not enough for this book. Amazon needs an extra star for people who are completely blown away be certain books.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Long live the King!, Avril 6 2004
Par Leon "Leon" (United States) - Voir tous mes commentaires
The newest king of fantasy ought to be crowned following this materpiece. Erikson is simply the best fantasy writer today--bar none, that includes Martin, Hobbes, Kearney, Keyes and Marco (all very good by the way).

Erikson is simply a magician that creates imagery for the blind, music for the deaf and texture for the unfeeling. Breathing taking in scope, immaculately detailed, and wonderfully paced, Memories of Ice and Snow is without question, one of the greatest books I have ever read. My God, there are no less than 15 characters that I actually like and can relate to. Buy the series, get into Erikson and put down the Goodkind books. Go
