Haze reminds of a piece of scripture. The book of Corinthians speaks of seeing through a glass dimly...That's what I think about 'Haze'.

I have enjoyed the work of L.E. Modesitt, Jr immensely, and this Imager chronicles is going to rank up there with the Deryni series. But, this novel seems to be an effort between books that didn't quite work out. Not every book he writes will be a winner, and this is that one.

I guess, if we look at the efforts of Major Keith Roget into unraveling what is beneath the haze of Haze, that is exactly what we get. Where he is unsure of what is truly happening, readers are left with the same. Where his perception of what will affect the rest of the universe is altered, ours is as well.

If that is what the intent of Mr Modesitt was, then he suceeded. If his intent was to write a novel we would enjoy, and go WOW!, he failed.

I expect a better effort from the Imagers Challenge.
