I love the amazing men that Ms. Brockmann creates......, Déc 8 2007
Everyday, Average Jones by Suzanne Brockmann
Silhouette Intimate Moments # 872 - August 1998
Harlan Jones aka Cowboy has been assigned temporarily to Alpha Squad while Frisco mends. His duty has now become permanent, and on a mission in the Middle East to rescue three US Embassy workers being held hostage, he proves himself again to be a valued team member. During this mission, he rescues Melody and keeps her close to his side through the entire 3 day walking trip to safety. Mel shows alot of grit and intelligence. She masked her blond hair with shoe polish, cutting it very short and hid her female figure; she knew if the terrorists discovered she was a woman, she was a goner. When Cowboy rescues her, she places complete trust in him to see her to safety. During the trip their attraction for one another grows, and once safe they spend six passionate days together until Cowboy is called away. Mel ends it, knowing that there is no future to their relationship; she wants an everyday, average guy, not some hotshot cowboy. Seven months later, Alpha Team is stationed in Virginia a mere hour away from Mel. Cowboy's been missing Mel fiercely so he goes to find her and what he finds is a beautiful Mel very much pregnant. Doing the math, Cowboy decides he needs to do the honourable thing but Mel doesn't want anything to do with that idea! Now Cowboy needs to convince Melody that he can be an everyday average guy.
I love the amazing men that Ms. Brockmann creates. Cowboy, aside from his talent as a SEAL, is a caring fellow who has a strong desire to never let those he cares about down. Melody has alot of real concerns about a husband and father who is away for weeks, sometimes months on dangerous missions. These are real issues, and I think they're handled very well.

Who says everyone drops things for a man in uniform :), Juil 14 2004
All her life Melody Evans has wanted to marry a plain, average man who didn't take risks. But when the foreign embassy where she works (her first real adventure) as an aide is taken over by terrorists and she's rescued by a daring navy SEAL, Melody blames the extreme circumstances for their ensuing passion. But, Harlan "Cowboy" not ordinary and their encounter leaves Melody with a little more than just memories. But, she thinks it will cramp his style and doesn't even tell him he is to be a father.Seven months later when Cowboy pays Melody a visit (he can't get her out of his mind, or appears heart), he's surprised to find her pregnant, and with his child too boot. Now all he has to do is convince her that they are meant to be married but, to do that he will have to show he can be as ordinary as the next guy. Things seem to be going well until they walk in to the middle of a hold up and his instincts take over. The book focuses on how Harlan goes about trying to make her see they are supposed to be together. This was a bit of a different Seal Team book for Brockmann, this one spent most of it's time in a quiet suburbia neighborhood. I thought it was a nice change of location and thoroughly enjoyed to book!

Poor pitiful Melody, Juil 13 2004
Melody will really get on your nerves!! This was why I pretty much gave it an average review. Her whining and feeling sorry for herself went overboard. Even that. You don't feel any connection between the two. At least I didn't. It's just not there. (...)
